A solution to the ever growing trunk of sentimental items that sits in storage, the box of Prized Possessions includes documentation of objects that you can’t get rid of due to the emotion they foster or the connection they once represented, but no longer have a place in one’s daily life. The Prized Possessions kit asks users to scan their items using any household scanner and is suited to hold 4x6 digital prints and index cards available at most local drug stores. This photographic documentation is paired with information about the object’s origin (what, where, when) and the role they’ve played in a life. This documentation provides an efficient method for retaining the most valuable component of such items – the memory – while ridding the user of the physical weight of saving otherwise useless objects.
